Coll is a small island about 13 miles deep by 3 miles wide, with a population of under 200. The island has one small village named Arinagour, situated close to the ferry slip. The island has some stunning beaches, interesting wildlife and is a designated Dark Skies area, ideal for viewing the stars. There is one hotel, one hostel, two camp sites, and a number of self catering cottages.

On a Thursday in summer, the ferries allow an 8 hour visit for a day trip, all other days allow only 2 hours.

The same ferries also run to the neighbouring island of Tiree. The ferries depart from the town of Oban.
